Joanne Lee DuPay's Obituary
Joanne Lee DuPay, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 87. Born on July 6, 1936, in Pennsylvania, to Ernest and Edith Schiemann.
Joanne's journey began as a cherished daughter and sister, and as the years unfolded, she became a devoted wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother. Her marriage to James DuPay Sr., which commenced on the beautiful fall day of September 24, 1955, was a loving partnership that flourished for six decades until James's passing in 2016. Together, they built a family foundation of love and support that stood the test of time.
Survived by her children, James DuPay (with his late wife Beth), Patricia DuPay, Jeff DuPay, and Lisa (David) Fair, Joanne's legacy continues through the lives she shaped with her unwavering support and affection. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her grandchildren, Ryan (Erica) DuPay, Zachary (Kella) DuPay, Collin (Felicia) DuPay, Michael DuPay, Chelsea Cartledge, and Justin Fair. Though her heart ached for her late granddaughter Katherine Fair, Joanne found solace in the smiles of her great-grandchildren, Kamyden, Barrett, Everly, and Josie.
Joanne's sister, Maxine Simons, predeceased her, but the memories they shared remain a treasured part of her story. Joanne's role as a stay-at-home mom was one she embraced with every ounce of her being, pouring love and attention into her home and children. As her children grew and ventured into the world, Joanne found a new avenue for her skills and charm, working part-time in retail, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and bright spirit.
Her interests reflected her love for connection and shared experiences. Joanne was a formidable opponent in board games, Scrabble, and card games, always ready for a friendly challenge. Her passion for shopping led her to countless garage and estate sales, where she found joy in the hunt for hidden treasures. Above all, Joanne cherished spending time with her friends and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Joanne and her husband James shared a love for travel, exploring the country in their RV, and making friends at every stop. These adventures brought them closer and allowed them to experience the beauty of the world together.
VISITATION will be held on FRIDAY, May 10th from 3pm – 6pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will begin at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
