Joan DeCandia was my Godmother. She was the best Godmother my mother could have chosen. Many of my finest childhood memories included my mom taking me to her house to chat and play. She was our neighbor and she deeply cared about me- and as a child I truly knew this and felt it. Every Christmas she would give me a Mickey or Minnie Mouse ornament because she knew that I would appreciate it. She would talk to me in such a sweet way, always make me feel welcome, and was like a sister to my mother. She came to events at school like my school concert or play. She would collect pictures and memories and we talked up until I just had my daughter in 2021. Talking to her on the phone just a year or two ago made me feel so happy. She wasn’t just a neighbor or a Godmother, she was like family- and never forgot a birthday or special event in my life. I am forever grateful for the memories and feel comfort in knowing she is reunited with her parents and children in heaven. I love her very much. She will always hold a very strong place in my heart. I am sending love and strength to Uncle Dom, her children, grandchildren family and friends. 😢💔
