Jesus Asung Ramos' Obituary
Jesus A. Ramos, M.D., 85, passed away on December 31, 2023. Beloved husband of 49 years of the late Carolyn J. Ramos, R.N. (nee Schultz). Devoted father of Laura Hegwer (Manfred) of Lake Bluff, IL. Twin brother of the late Apolonio (Letty) and elder brother of Aurora Pagtalunan of Staten Island, N.Y. (Rey, deceased), the late Maria Teresa Dalven (Larry) of New York City, and Carmina Gohacki (Warren) of Connecticut. He was also a cherished uncle to family in Ireland and Wales. For the past nine years, Jess was also a special friend to Patricia Brown of Hudson, Ohio.
Jess was a general surgeon, emergency physician, and chief of staff who practiced in Strongsville, Ohio, and served as a volunteer physician for the Strongsville Mustangs varsity football team.
Jess also volunteered his medical services to the poor of his native Philippines and was a Eucharistic minister and longtime Rotarian. He enjoyed traveling the world, but his happiest moments involved sharing a delicious meal and a pint of Guinness with friends and family.
Throughout his life, Jess was a faithful companion to four bichons and two mutts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jess’s name to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, clevelandapl.org.
