Jerome "Jerry" Brown, a cherished soul known for his vibrant spirit and kind heart, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on September 15, 1934, in Rowan, Kentucky, Jerry was a man who lived a full and honorable life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
Jerry proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War, a period that shaped much of his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience. It was during the Korean War that he exhibited extraordinary bravery and fortitude, earning him the prestigious Purple Heart. After his service, he embarked on a successful career in sales and marketing, where he was a respected figure at Cleveland Builders and Medina Supply. His professional achievements were many, but it was his personal interactions that left a lasting impression on his colleagues and clients alike.
A beloved husband, Jerry was married for 17 years to his late wife, Ann Brown (nee Davis), whose memory he held dear to his heart. He was a loving father to his daughters, Deb Will (nee Brown) and Cathy Swartz (the late Robert) (nee Brown). The son of the late John Brown and Stella Brown (nee McQuin), Jerry was a family man through and through. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Jenny Fannery (Jeremy), Jeremy Sullivan (Kelly), Jessica Pember, Justin Swartz and his great grandchildren, Kaylinn and Landon.
Jerry's life was marked by his passion for the community of Strongsville, Ohio, where he was a longtime resident. He grew up in this tight-knit community and attended The Ohio State University, further cementing his love for his home state. Jerry was an avid golfer, a talent that earned him multiple titles as Club Champion at Columbia Hills Country Club. His ability on the golf course was well-known, and he relished the opportunity to play in ProAm tournaments, where he showcased his skill alongside professionals.
Beyond the fairways, Jerry was an enthusiast of many sports. He enjoyed running and bowling. His competitive spirit was matched only by his sportsmanship and the camaraderie he shared with fellow athletes.
Jerry's legacy is one of love, dedication, and joy. His infectious laughter and the stories he shared will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. As we bid farewell to Jerome "Jerry" Brown, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by courage, love, and a touch of playfulness that will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
