Jennie grew up on the west side of Cleveland by the lake and attended West Tech High School where she played basketball and volleyball. After graduating, she went to work as a secretary, taking a trolley car to the Bailey’s Department Store downtown. She enjoyed the parade from their windows on Euclid Avenue when the Cleveland Indians won the World Series in 1948, and with her coworkers threw tissue out the windows in celebration. She met and fell in love with Charles (Chuck/Charlie) Zavesky (his love of Italian food and her excellent cooking made them a perfect match) and had nine children with him, enough for a baseball team. She went back to school to CCC after losing her beloved husband at the age of 46. Jennie started working at the IRS in her 50's until her retirement over a decade later. She also worked at many places with her daughters, always helping them with anything. She also volunteered at SWGH. Jennie was a KOPS member and 50/50 raffle organizer of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), and a member of St. John Neumann Senior Group. Mom loved trips to the casinos and playing the lottery (so she could win money to give to her family), watching comedies, especially Andy Griffith, Golden Girls, Frasier and anything that made her laugh that wonderful laugh of hers. She loved to dance, competing in swing and ballroom dancing competitions for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. She loved music - Frankie Valli, Bruno Mars, Johnny Desmond, Dean Martin and others. Her favorite comedian was David Brenner, whom she met in person and who gave her a big hug and signed his book for her. Mom loved animals, especially little dogs and cats. She would always feed the birds, deer and other wild animals. Mom was a headband and lipstick aficionado, which is all she needed to look gorgeous. Mom was an avid putt-putt player, usually beating everyone. She loved to eat out, especially at diners, and hang out with her friends at the Gourme, Donut Scene and Kelly’s. She especially liked looking at lighthouses, waterfalls, lakes and enjoyed the Metroparks. She was a generous soul always thinking of others, with a kind smile for everyone.
