James Robert Stewart's Obituary
James Robert Stewart, 84, passed away on July 3rd, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 28th, 1939, to the late Robert and Margaret (nee Shelton) Stewart in Georgetown, Ohio.
He attended Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Akron University in Education and then went on to obtain a master’s degree from Kent State University in Spanish Education.
He married Jane Riddles on May 28th, 1977, in Westlake. They recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
James spent most of his career teaching Spanish at Glenville High School in Cleveland. He retired from Cleveland City School District in 1999. He was also a piano teacher throughout his lifetime, beginning in his 20’s, and taught hundreds of people his passion during that time. James was also a church organist for various churches for over 50 years.
James had an immense passion for music. He had strong faith and loved the Lord and his family dearly. James enjoyed travelling out west, playing bridge, spending winters in Florida, and staying active taking his daily walks.
In addition to his wife, Jane Stewart, he is survived by his children Rick (Dawn) Stewart, Jennifer (David) Ruben, John (Jacquelyn) Stewart, and Jeffrey (Maria) Stewart; grandchildren Sean, Ryan, Joshua, Rebekah, Staci, Elizabeth, Alexander, Gabriel, Amelia, Andrea, and Aleksandra; and siblings Mary Kay (John) Wenhart, and William (Elaine) Stewart.
VISITATION will be held on FRIDAY, July 7th from 3pm – 7pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on SATURDAY, July 8th at 10am, also at Jardine Funeral Home. Interment will be taking place at Strongsville Cemetery.
