James T. Piazza's Obituary
James T. Piazza, 88, was born to Peter & Rosaria Piazza (deceased) in Cleveland, Ohio. In this proudly Sicilian family, Jim came of age, adoringly looking up to his three older siblings. For him, Family was Everything. Jim shared 50 years of devoted marriage with Marian (Phillips) Piazza (deceased), his childhood sweetheart, and with whom, he raised four children: Rosanne (Charles) Moldvay, Brenda (Paul) Valponi, Jay Piazza (deceased), and Marc Piazza. He was an affectionate grandfather to Michael and Matthew Moldvay; Santina (deceased), Nick, and Guy Valponi; and Vincent and Ciana Piazza, and great-grandfather to Mason, Christopher, Jonathan, and Mallory Moldvay; and Darcy and Evie Valponi. He graduated from Benedictine High School and remained a proud Bengal the rest of his life. He entered Plumbers Local #55, where he worked his entire career, and carried an immense pride for his role in constructing many of Cleveland’s noteworthy buildings. As a devout Catholic, Jim modeled his faith, in part, through his involvement in the Knights of Columbus, even serving as a past Grand Knight. Nothing brought him more joy than family gatherings, especially Easter, when he’d watch as his family gathered to keep his traditions alive: grilling spiedini, eating cannoli, spumoni, and cassata, and sharing family stories. His family will observe a private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
