James Alan Brickley's Obituary
James Alan Brickley, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to the late George and Velda Brickley, Jim lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, faith, and commitment to his community. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Gilbert) Brickley, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family and created a lifetime of cherished memories.
Jim was a proud father to his son, Robert Brickley, and daughter-in-law, Keely (O’Brein) Brickley. He was an adoring grandfather to Callum Brickley and Vivian Brickley, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velda Brickley, and his brothers Gary Brickley and Richard Brickley.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from February 1, 1967, to December 18, 1970, and continued his service in the Naval Reserves. He carried the values of duty, integrity, and dedication throughout his life.
A faithful member of Strongsville United Methodist Church, Jim devoted more than 40 years to the church’s Sanctuary Choir, sharing his love of music and worship with generations of fellow congregants. He was also an active volunteer with the Strongsville Historical Society, where he generously contributed his time and passion for preserving local history.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, sense of humor, and willingness to help others. His love for family, faith, community, and country left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ruth; his son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Keely; his cherished grandchildren, Cal and Vivi; and many extended family members, friends, fellow church members, and community volunteers who will miss him dearly.
Jim’s life was a testament to service, faith, and love. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
