Irma Ruth Burr's Obituary
Irma Ruth Burr, née Digman, of Columbia Station, Ohio, passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on May 6, 1938, in Rosedale, West Virginia. Those who knew her best will remember a woman whose warmth, strength, and steady presence touched every part of family life.
Irma was the beloved wife of 68 years to the late Cecil Burr, and together they built a life marked by devotion, resilience, and enduring love. Their marriage was a lasting example to all who knew them, and the bond they shared remained one of the defining blessings of her life. She was a loving mother to Randall Burr and his wife Lottie, and Anita Richings, and she took great pride in her children and the lives they built. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave them her love freely and without hesitation.
She was the Daughter of the late Clarence and Alice Digman. She was also a cherished sister of the late Raymond Digman and his wife Ruby, who survives him. Irma treasured the ties of family and understood the importance of keeping loved ones connected across generations. Her presence at family gatherings brought comfort and joy, and her memory will continue to be held close by those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
Irma was a proud grandmother to Scott Richings and his wife Mandi, Kelly Wilson and her husband Vance, Jeremy Richings and his significant other Casey, and Duncan Burr and his wife Heather. She delighted in her great-grandchildren, Matthew, James, Aiden, Hannah, and granny of Emma and Kyleigh, each of whom brought her great happiness. To her family, she was more than a grandmother. She was the epitome of a grandma to everyone, affectionately known simply as Granny by all who loved her. Her home, her table, and her heart were always open, and she made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
One of the great passions of her life was the Christmas tree farm she and her husband built together. For 35 years, they operated Burr's Christmas Tree Farm, creating not only a successful family business but also a place filled with tradition, seasonal joy, and lasting memories. The farm became a reflection of her values, including hard work, perseverance, and care for others. Through years of changing seasons, she helped nurture a place where families gathered, children explored, and holiday traditions took root.
Irma had many gifts and interests that reflected her patient and generous spirit. She was an avid gardener who found joy in tending to her plants and watching them flourish. She also enjoyed crochet and sewing, creating with her hands in ways that brought beauty and comfort to others. Her green beans were especially famous within the family and became a treasured staple at every holiday gathering. More than a meal, they were part of the tradition and love she so faithfully provided. She was also a devoted churchgoer at Christian Unity, where her faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength and comfort.
Throughout her life, Irma remained a woman of grace, kindness, and quiet determination. She lived with a deep sense of purpose and a generous heart, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know her. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of family, faith, and simple acts of care that leave the deepest impressions.
