Helen N. Navarro's Obituary
Helen N. Navarro (nee Nicolas) age 86, passed away July 27, 2020. Beloved wife of 50 years to the late Efren R. Navarro. Cherished mother of Nathaniel (Anna), Noemi Trent (Joel), Efren Jr. (Janet), Jewell Villanueva (Redy). Sister of Joel Nicolas (Bernadette). Loving grandmother of Natalie, Devon, Rachel, Caitlin, Dominic, and Cris. She is preceded in death by her parent’s Raymundo and Maria Nicolas; sister Puring Aurelio. Helen was born in the Philippines in the province of Ilocos Norte. She studied nursing and graduated in 1956 from Philippine General Hospital School of Nursing. She lived abroad in the U.S. from 1958-1961, completed post graduate studies, and served in maternity hospitals during the height of the Baby Boom era. Helen returned to the Philippines to continue her career as an OR nurse. She met the love of her life Efren R. Navarro and married him in 1964. In 1973, Helen returned to the U.S. with a husband and 4 young children. They laid roots in York, PA where she retired in 1995 as a nurse specializing in geriatrics. In retirement, Helen enjoyed doting on grandchildren, traveling, and visiting old friends and relatives. She loved to cook, shop, and enjoyed beach vacations.
Due to the virus pandemic there will be no public memorial service at this time. PRIVATE VIRTUAL VISITATION/SERVICE WILL BE HELD. In lieu flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting the link below.
