Hajnal Nagy's Obituary
Hajnal Nagy, 68, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home with family early evening on Thursday, Aug 28.
She was born in Galocas, Hargita, Transylvania, in 1957 to Imre Gego and Magdolna Solyom. She enjoyed singing, dancing, socializing with her friends & cooking delicious homemade Hungarian dishes. Hajnal Nagy studied education at Tamasi Aron Gimazium in Szekelyudvarhely, Transylvania. She enjoyed teaching in Transylvania before immigrating to the United States with her husband, Sandor Nagy, and their son, Levente Nagy, in 1990. They 1st settled in Lakewood, Ohio, and then moved to Bay Village, Ohio, in 1995, where they remained until 2015, when they and her son’s family moved to Hungary. They lived there together until 2016, when they endured the heartbreaking loss of Sandor. Hajnal remained in Hungary until 2021, when she moved back to the United States to be with her grandchildren in Brunswick, Ohio.
Hajnal was a devoted mother, friend, and grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, who were her entire world. She was eager to lend a helping hand to her friends and family, and loved to fill everyone's plate with her amazing cooking. Hajnal always put her family first and was often seen dancing or singing at family gatherings and parties. She was a kind soul who took care of the people around her and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Hajnal was preceded in death by her beloved husband (Sandor Nagy), her father (Imre Gego), and her father-in-law (Alexandru Nagy). She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law (Levente Nagy & his wife Kristen Marie Nagy), her 3 grandchildren (Levente Arpad Nagy, Rosalie Grace Nagy, and Matthias Imre Nagy), mother (Magdolna Gego), brother (Zoltan Gego & his wife Piroska Gego), and mother-in-law (Margareta Nagy). She also has additional family members who live in Transylvania, Romania, and Hungary.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, located at 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, OH 44146. A reception will follow directly after at the church in Bethlen Hall.
