Gregory Alan DeBrock's Obituary
Gregory Alan DeBrock, 70, with amazing resolve and a positive attitude, lost his battle to prostate cancer on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
He was born on November 7, 1952, to the late Robert and Betty (nee Martin) DeBrock in Toledo, Ohio.
Gregory attended St. John’s Jesuit High School, graduating in the class of 1971. In 1972, he was drafted into the Army. Upon his return home in 1974, he attended Ohio University obtaining a bachelor degree of science in civil engineering in 1977.
He married the love of his life, Darlene Jarvis, on August 1, 1981, in Dayton, Ohio. They have been married for 42 years.
Gregory retired from Sohio- BP in 2015 after working in pipeline operations for 38 years.
He enjoyed traveling to Clear Lake Indiana, to his family cottage, and to many National Parks. Gregory liked to stay active, often participating in volleyball, pickleball, tennis, and sailing. He was a “Mr. Fix It”, and there was nothing he could not build or repair. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, friends, and grandchildren whether it was attending events or playing games. He would often say, “My benevolence knows no bounds.”
Gregory is survived by his loving wife, Darlene DeBrock; cherished children Matthew Jarvis (Sarah) DeBrock, Lindsay DeBrock (Robert) Lareau, and Andrew Martin (Larisse) DeBrock; grandchildren Gavin Michael, Owen Gregory, Christian Andrew, Luke Alan, Sophia Marie, and Baby Boy- due in December; siblings Christine (Bill- deceased) Ankenbrandt, Shelia (Tom) DeBrock -Matzinger, Mark (Monica) DeBrock, and Michael (Rae) DeBrock; and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION will be held on MONDAY, October 23 from 3pm – 7pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will follow on TUESDAY, October 24 at 11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, The Southwest Hospice Fund, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
