Grace Koch's Obituary
Grace Koch (nee Buehrer) 92, was called to her heavenly home on March 18, 2023. Grace was born on May 27, 1930 in Ridgeville Corners, OH to the late Samuel and Sophia Buehrer. She grew up on a farm in rural Ohio and carried the values of hard work, patience and hope into her life as a beloved teacher, wife and mother.
She graduated from Elmhurst College in Illinois where she met a very handsome Erwin Koch and as history goes they recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. As a teacher, mother of 3, and pastor’s wife her hands were full but her heart was always gracious and kind. Grace most certainly lived up to her name.
Her grandchildren will forever remember her famous spaghetti dinners and blueberry muffins. Her children cherish the memories of Christmas decorations lasting from Thanksgiving Eve until Valentines Day, her awesome alto harmonizing abilities in the church choir, summers at the farm, camper trips across 48 states, vegetable gardening, her lap dogs, love of jewelry, desserts at every meal and candy in every pocket.
Her husband loved her calm common sense especially when giving advise about his sermons. He trusted her criticism and suggestions…and she often advised with a KISS (Keep It Short Stupid)!
Grace is survived by her husband, Erv, her children Paul (Tracey), Nancy Kottraba (Tom), and Marie Rady (John) as well as grandchildren Anna, John, Elise, Jaclyn, Lucas and Christoper and great grandchildren Trevor, Max, Clara and Lily.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Grace’s birthday, May 27 at Strongsville United Church of Christ in Strongsville, OH. Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 with a service at 11:30 followed by a luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.jardinefh.com
