George A. Lonero's Obituary
George A. Lonero passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021, at the age of 90, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
George is honored, loved, and survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose Marie, along with his loving children, Suzanne (Daniel) Thomas, Kathleen (Peter †) Hagedorn, Greg (Melba) Lonero, Valerie (John) Deck, and grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Conner, Wyatt, and great-grandson, Carter. He will be missed by his adoring cousins, nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Santa Lonero, and siblings Ann, Andrew, and John.
Born in Cleveland on America’s birthday (July 4th) in 1931, George was indeed a firecracker. His quick wit and clever quips kept us smiling and on our toes all the way to the end. His zest for life resonated in all that he did, from the love he had for his family to his unending desire to learn and explore many (self-taught) hobbies. He loved music, the arts, photography, and in recent years, taught himself how to use computer design programs. As a family we benefited, as he continually entertained us with animated holiday messages and colorful birthday greetings. He was the keeper of our wonderful Italian family tree, and organized decades of milestones and history into a format for all to enjoy.
George left a spiritual footprint on his family that will never be forgotten, each of us forever grateful and inspired by this incredibly special gift. His love of family and life is rooted deep in our hearts and will remain the pillars of our family’s faith and love.
A small, private service with immediate family will be held to honor George. We hope that you will pray and rejoice in a moment of reflection as our family celebrates his life.
