George T. Hovanec's Obituary
George T. Hovanec, aged 84, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. George's legacy is one of enduring love, unwavering faith, and the cherished moments shared with those he held dear.
Born to the late John and Emma Hovanec, George was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jeri, for 64 loving years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and support. George's role as a father to his sons, Craig and Dave (Tonya), was marked by his steadfast guidance and the wisdom he imparted. His pride and joy were evident in every story he shared about his grandchildren, Jacob, Jonathan, and Joshua, whom he adored beyond measure.
George's brother, Jerry (Mary) Hovanec, and sister, Rita (Marion) Vrtacnik, will remember him as a cherished sibling and confidant. As a brother-in-law to Richard Vajdik, Joanne Williams and an uncle to many, George's warmth and generosity of spirit left a lasting impact on his extended family. His friends, too numerous to count, will miss his companionship and the impact he had on their lives.
George's faith in God was lived out as a Christian in the Roman Catholic Church. Daily and weekend Mass attendance throughout his life developed his strong faith. George shared his faith through daily encounters with people he met.
Devotions to the Blessed Mother, the rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, church faith groups, and most importantly the Eucharist. George’s interests and hobbies were varied including tennis, golf, traveling, boating, food, drink, and Invicta watches with bling! He found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—shared meals, lively conversations, and the company of his loved ones. The Hovanec family invites those who knew and loved George to join them in celebrating his life.
VISITATION WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, MARCH 16, 2025, FROM 4 PM TO 7 PM AT JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE, OH 44136. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE CELEBRATED IN GEORGE'S HONOR AT 11 AM ON MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2025, AT ST. COLETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 330 W. 130TH ST, BRUNSWICK, OH 44212.
George's departure from this world leaves a void in the hearts of many, but the memories of his kind soul, his enduring love, and his gentle smile will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends for generations to come.
