Gary Buerman's Obituary
Gary Buerman of Strongsville, Ohio was born to George and Mildred Buerman on May 27th, 1950 and passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Gary was a devoted husband for 48 years and is survived by his wife, Deb Buerman. Together, they built a strong foundation for their two children to experience the importance of family. Gary is also survived by his daughter Jennifer (Jeremy) Harris and his son Brian (Courtney) Buerman who all learned how to be great parents thanks to his guidance. The name Grandpa is one that Gary wore with great pride. His granddaughters Claire, Margaret, Evelyn, and Caroline will remember him as a positive, fun, adventurous, and loving presence in their lives.
As the youngest (but not the baby) of five, Gary held regular sibling conference calls to keep everyone connected across the country. He was a loyal brother to the late Barbara Bentler, George Buerman, Dot (late Tom) Masterson, and the late Tom (Debbi) Buerman. His firm handshake and willingness to show up for his family will be remembered fondly by his brother in laws Dana (Carol) First and Don (Angie) First. Gary will also be missed by Pat Buerman, Leslie First and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his genuine love for family, Gary never met a stranger. He loved interacting with others and found a retirement job that allowed him to celebrate with many while working for a party bus service. He was a regularly requested driver because of his outgoing, intentional, prompt, reliable, and kind personality which was present in all areas of his life. Gary is known as the mayor of the street where he and Deb lived for 48 years. He was always the first to welcome new neighbors, loved planning get togethers, and was quick to offer a helping hand. All friends and family would smile at the offer of a ride to get ice cream in his beloved 1965 Corvair convertible. Mr. Buerman was also proud to help hundreds of people by donating over 18 gallons of blood during his lifetime.
A Cleveland man through and through, Gary was proud to call this city home for his entire life and was a devoted Browns and Guardians fan. He was an eternal optimist on all things sports as well as in life. He loved to laugh and never took himself too seriously which helped everyone to feel at ease in his presence. He believed rules were made to be bent but not broken and that it is important to work hard and play hard. These legacies, among many others, will live on through all who knew and loved Gary Buerman.
Thank you, Gary, for giving the biggest hugs and for being the best husband, dad, father in law, grandpa, son, brother, neighbor, and friend to so many.
