Gail Karagiozis' Obituary
Gail Karagiozis (nee Portolos), 81, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Anthony “Duke” Karagiozis and a loving mother to Jayme and Alexis Karagiozis. She was born to the late Peter and Penelope Portolos and was the sister of the late James Portolos. Gail was an adoring wife, exceptional mother, and loyal friend to many. As a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, with a degree in education, Gail spent the span of her career as a middle school and high school teacher with 31 years of service in multiple school districts. As a testimony to her passion for education, during her professional career she was the proud recipient of multiple Who’s Who among America’s Teachers Awards. In her personal life, Gail was well-known for her culinary skills and took every opportunity she could to bring those she loved special meals and baked goods to enjoy. She loved to travel, overseas and domestically, and had many grand adventures exploring new places, cultures and meeting new people that would ultimately become friends. She was a charter member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church and her favorite pastimes were health and wellness activities, entertaining friends, and spending time with her family. May her memory be eternal.
Private services were held for her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Philoptochos Society, 4548 Wallings Rd, North Royalton OH 44133. Online condolences may be made at www.jardinefh.com.
