Fred C. Podlogar's Obituary
Fred Podlogar was born in Uniontown, PA on April 21, 1939, and raised in a small coal mining community of patch houses in Little Brown field. His father, Frederick Podlogar, was a coal miner and his mother, Anna (Barcheck) Podlogar, quit school at age 12 to help raise her baby sister. They both were dedicated to raising their five children, and with Fred as the eldest, he inherited that responsibility.
At age 8, he was a caddy at Uniontown Country Club and saved his tips and wages in a mason jar for start up school supplies. Thus began his goal of taking care of his family. Thanks to a friend, he began his 42 year career in Ohio at the Standard Oil Research Center as a stock boy. Thanks to mentors, he completed his education at Baldwin Wallace and his career Facilities Management at BP Research Center.
Fred took great pride in his 66 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Eleanor (Garrow) Podlogar, the success of his three sons and their families, them building a family home of their own, his '52 TD MG and 57 Chevy, and enjoyed golfing.
He passed away on June 27, 2026, and lived a life of honesty, strength, love, and kindness.
He is survived by his three sons: Fred (Anita) III, David and Robert (Chad); grandchildren: Alyssa (Joe), Alex Toth, Miles, Owen, Oliver and Oscar; siblings: Larry (Marge) and Constance "Connie (Ed);" sisters-in-law: Emily and Andrea; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Anna Podlogar; and siblings: James and Norbert.
Matthew 25:23: "Well done my good and faithful servant."
