Frances May Dease's Obituary
Frances was born in Cleveland OH on May 1, 1930 to George and Frances Hubay. She was the youngest child, after Irene, Marion and George Jr. Hubay.
She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School, Notre Dame Academy, and graduated from Notre Dame College. Fran became a children's librarian with the Cleveland Public Library and worked at several different branches where she helped children with research and school assignments, and shared her love of literature.
Frances met her future husband, Tom, at Chippewa Lake Park Ballroom, where they danced to the music of the Big Bands. When Tom returned from serving in Korea they were married on her birthday, May 1st, in 1954,
Fran’s family was her priority and she was a devoted wife and mother. Her husband and four children have wonderful memories of family meals and parties, holidays, vacations and the simple joys of everyday life. Frances was a woman of deep faith. She was a parishioner at Assumption of Mary Church in Brook Park for 40 years until she and Tom moved to Strongsville in 1994, and transferred to St. Joseph’s Parish
Fran was devoted to her dear college friends who continued to meet until recently. As a young housewife Fran belonged to a “sewing circle” of neighborhood ladies, who met regularly. A little later in life she and Tom belonged to a group of friends who often gathered for dinner and cards and celebrated New Year’s Eve together for 30 years. Fran was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan and Sunday dinner was planned around game time. But her favorite team was the University of Notre Dame football and she never missed watching a game.
Fran retired with commendation from the CPL after 46 years, spent time with her grandchildren, volunteered as an English tutor, helped organize a lending library in her new community and enjoyed the company of her ‘Soulmates”, a group of ladies who gathered for prayer, reflection and lunch! Fran kept up with current events thru TV, magazines and newspapers. She always had a topic to discuss at meals. She remembered her children and grandchildren’s interests and she was famous for clipping and sending them pertinent articles with notes in the margins!
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ret. Chief Thomas Dease, and children, Thomas J. Dease (Brenda Jamiol), Karen Wilson Kaufman(Michael), Constance Klamet(Tom), Brian Dease(Kerry), grandchildren, Ryan Dease(Amanda), Patrick Dease(Ashley), Sean Larson(Ali), Ellen Wilson Padilla(Andrew),Jacob Wilson, Nathan Kaufman, Jay Kaufman, Kaleigh Dease, Connor Dease, Jennifer Dombeck (Mark), Jeff Klamet, Jaquie Betlee ( Daniel), great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ada, Hudson, Blake, and Sofia, Reese, Jaxon, Jaden, Emme, Dani, and Zach, and by cousins, nieces and nephews,
