Erwin J. Odeal's Obituary
Erwin J. Odeal, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024. He was born on November 3, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, to Erwin and Marjorie Odeal, who both preceded him in death.
Erwin's life was marked by a profound commitment to the people he loved. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to the late Kathleen Odeal (nee Bryske), with whom he shared a life full of love and companionship. Together, they raised a family that remained at the heart of all his endeavors. Erwin was a supportive father to his daughter Laurel Maher (Jim) and his son Brian Odeal (Maria). He was a cherished brother to David Odeal. The joy of Erwin's life was further multiplied by the laughter and memories he shared with his grandchildren: Abby Maher, Alex Maher, Jack Odeal, Benny Odeal, and Josh Odeal.
Erwin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron. In 2007, he retired from a fulfilling career of 33 years at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, serving 24 years as Executive Director. Erwin devoted virtually his entire professional career to environmental planning and management for the benefit of public health.
Erwin's warm presence and gentle guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Erwin's life was a reflection of his values—faith and family—and these values will carry on his legacy in all the lives he improved
ALL SERVICES THURSDAY, MAY 16, 2024. VISITATION THURSDAY 10AM-11AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Strongsville. Interment Strongsville Cemetery.
