Ella Margaret Gaishauser (nee Poerner), 91, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024. Beloved wife of 71 years to the late Alfons Gaishauser. Loving mother of Dr. Dennis Gaishauser (late Kay), Monica Barth (Patrick) and Lori Bongiovanni (John). Daughter of the late Johann and Margaret Poerner. Sister of Elsie and Toni, preceded in death by Sepp, Annemie, Willi, and Oswald. Dear grandmother of Rachel, Dr. Korina, Erin, Mike (Celia), Ricky (Brittany), Jessica, Ambriel, Olivia and Katrina. Ella was born in Western Germany on July 11, 1933 where she lived with her family. After she finished school in 1952, she traveled to America by ship at the age of 19 to then be joined with her future husband, Alfons, who came to America a year prior in 1951 at the age of 20 to begin a new life together where they were both sponsored and then married on August 22, 1953.
Ella worked at Joseph and Feiss Company as a seamstress for 8 years until 1961 when her first son Dennis was born. The birth of her two daughters, Monica and Lori, soon followed. Ella became a homemaker and was a very active member of her community and known well by many. She was a crossing guard for Allen Elementary School, volunteered for Altenheim Nursing Home, followed her love for polka dancing by regularly attending events at the German Central Club and Lenau Park, swam every morning at the Strongsville Rec Center, was a regular and very loved customer at her favorite stores, and was always found singing to her favorite German polka music. She had a love for sewing and enjoyed cooking her favorite German dishes.
Ella was a dear friend and neighbor to all who knew her and a very loved grandmother aka Oma to all of her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She will be deeply missed!
