Elaine M. Fazekas' Obituary
Elaine M. Fazekas, age 89, died peacefully October 1, 2021. Beloved wife of the late John J. Fazekas. Loving mother of Karen (Allan) Paradise, Susan Fulmer, Marie (Peter) Vagt, Nancy Grubb, and Janice (Matthew) Rogers. Cherished grandmother of Melissa, Katie, Brian, Anna, Elle, Lauren, Krista, Chrissy, and Jack. Great grandmother of Alana, Charlotte, Cora, and Kinsley. She is preceded in death by her parents George & Mary Pavlick; son-in-law Michael Gretchko.
Elaine was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and moved to Cleveland after graduating high school. She met her husband John while working in Cleveland. She worked at many businesses throughout her life and retired after 31 years from The Cleveland Plain Dealer. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Elaine enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and traveling but her proudest accomplishment was her family. She was known as the “Matriarch” by her daughters and grandchildren. She was known as “Lady Elaine” to her Strongsville neighbors, The Corner Gang. She will always be remembered as fiercely independent, classy and loved by many.
The family would like to thank all of her neighbors who have been so kind and helpful especially these last few years.
Visitation will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 16271 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44236, Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 10-11 AM where a funeral mass will immediately follow at 11 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Hospice, 18659 Drake Road, Strongsville, OH 44136.
