The Elaine Alliance Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduate Nursing Students
It is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye to Elaine in an earthly sense. Those that knew Elaine and those that loved her came to quickly appreciate her passion for helping those who could not help themselves. From a very early age, Elaine knew that she wanted to be one of god's caregivers on earth by becoming a nurse. She pursued this career with passion, professionalism and a heart of an angel. Upon graduating from Toledo University with a degree in nursing, Elaine quickly received the opportunity to pursue this career, first at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio and then Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Her days and nights on a Medical floor and then in the Emergency Department were not always a bowl of cherries but she always knew deep down she could provide comfort and care to her patients and their families in their time of need.
Elaine was able to serve out this honored profession for over 20 years, until her body gave out from illness and the physical pain was too great to continue. She loved her work and especially the great and lasting friendships she made with fellow caregivers over the years. For those that knew Elaine, you also know how she suffered from multiple medical issues which resulted in many surgeries, medical procedures and hospital stays. Although the physical and emotional pain she experienced was at times overwhelming she was blessed with her own set of angels who cared for her and comforted her family in their time of need.
It is because of our gratitude to those that gave beyond themselves that the Alliance Family has established a scholarship fund in Elaine's name at the University of Central Florida's College of Nursing to assist in a very small way those that choose to pursue a career in nursing. Our family's hope is that this scholarship will be a lasting memory to Elaine and will help others to become god's angels on earth.
