Doyne Botterman's Obituary
Doyne Botterman, 89, of Strongsville, passed away on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at her home.
Doyne was born on May 16th, 1933 to Ed and Marjorie (nee Crosby) Hoxsie in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She grew up in Glen Ellyn Illinois and graduated from Glenbard High School. Doyne continued her education and graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in education. She went on to get her master’s degree in art education from Central Connecticut University.
Doyne married the love of her life Ralph Botterman on August 28th, 1955 and were married for over 55 years before his passing in 2010. She lived in many places as Ralph pursued his career: West Chicago Illinois, Cleveland Ohio, Avon Connecticut, Murrysville Pennsylvania, Beverly Hills Michigan and returned to Cleveland, settling in North Royalton and Strongsville.
She loved to read and starting in 1943 she kept a log of over 2,500+ books that she had read. She volunteered to read for the blind at the Cleveland Sight Center. As a teacher of art, Doyne also enjoyed creating art, working primarily in acrylics and watercolors. Doyne was an avid gardener and a member of Strongsville Garden club. She and Ralph enjoyed travel, and made several trips to Europe, as well as Japan, Australia, and toured the Panama Canal. Her hobby since childhood was collecting vintage dolls and dolls from other countries. She loved being a grandmother.
She is survived by her children Bob (Lynn) Botterman, and Debbie (Bob) Brighter; grandchildren Amy (Eugene) Brighter-Sax, Kayla Brighter, Grant Brighter, Maria Botterman, and Katie Botterman; and half-sister Randee (Randy) Collins-Halls.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, June 6th, at 11:00 a.m. at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 9419 Royalton Rd, Strongsville, OH.
