Douglas Edward Bednarski's Obituary
Douglas Edward Bednarski passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 61, in his home in Lodi, Ohio.
Doug was born on January 15, 1964, in Portland, Oregon, to Dennis Bednarski (Jamie) and Roberta Bednarski (née Armstrong). He grew up in Strongsville alongside his siblings, David Bednarski (Loree), Deborah Baughman (Pierre E. Gant, Jr.), and Dianne Karberg (Matthew). Doug graduated from Strongsville High School and went on to meet and marry his soulmate, the late Tanya Bednarski in July, 1991. Together, they enjoyed scuba diving. Doug was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #38, where he was preparing to retire on February 1, 2026.
Doug was a devoted father to his children, Kayleigh Kara Eppley (Mark), Taylor Rae Bednarski (Hunter Mayo), and Lorence Michael Bednarski. He was a proud grandfather to Jayce Roe Eppley. Doug also leaves behind his nieces and nephews—Brandon Baughman (Virginia), Charlotte Bednarski, Erika Shaft, Grace Bednarski, Theodore (TJ) Shaft, and Alyssa Baughman—and his great-niece, Brinley Grace Baughman. In addition, Doug is remembered by many friends and co-workers.
Doug had a deep passion for music and his fish tanks. From tiny guppies to thriving families of fish, he lovingly cared for them every single day. His collection included Angelfish, Spotted Catfish, Freshwater Iridescent Shark, Clown Loaches, Plecostomus and Zebra Loaches. He also loved taking care of his outdoor tomato garden and his house plants.
