Donald J. Shaver Sr.'s Obituary
Donald (Don) J. Shaver Sr. age 69, found peace in our Lord on July 22, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family. Precious and beloved husband of Kimberly E. Shaver (nee Yalanty) for almost 43 years. Cherished father of Michael Shaver, Donald "Dino" J. Shaver Jr. and Sara R. (Nathan) Blair. Loving and devoted grandpa to Beau Christopher. Brother of John M. Shaver, Richard W. (Linda) Shaver, David (Deborah) McNeeley, Allen (Jill) McNeeley, Kevin (Renee) McNeeley, Larry McNeeley, and Emilie Jo (John) Garofolo. He is preceded in death by his mother, Philomena. As a child, Don was the mischievous kind, always finding trouble with his brothers and cousins. At the age of 17, Don enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War. Don was a decorated soldier who was awarded many medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. However, his life truly began when he came home and met his soulmate, Kim, while working as a para-policemen. Their relationship blossomed quickly and a little over a year after their first date, they were married. God blessed their marriage with three wonderful children. Some of Don's favorite memories with his children include watching a meteor shower, camping, teaching them how to shoot and enjoying his daughter's cooking. Later in life, Don gained another son by marriage who quickly became his football buddy for life, never missing a Cleveland Browns game. Then came along his grandson, Beau, who was the apple of his eye. Don always believed in teaching Beau as early as he could and valued the high fives they shared. Don enjoyed sharing his meals with his German Shepherd, Gunner, taking car rides and playing frisbee. As Don's health declined, as a result of Agent Orange exposure during the war, his wife quickly became his caregiver and angel in "scrubs." Kim learned to care for Don and his illnesses and worked tirelessly to fortify his health and life. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44136, Wednesday July 27, 2022, from 4-8PM.
