Dolores V. Vandeweerd's Obituary
Dolores, a cherished pillar of the Strongsville community and a beacon of leadership within the Strongsville Women's League, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 14th, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones, cherished friends, and her community.
Born to Esther Kope and Joseph Priebe, both of whom predeceased her, Dolores grew up understanding the value of family and community. As a mother, Dolores instilled in her children the importance of integrity, hard work, and the power of giving back.
Dolores's commitment to community service was evident through her longstanding involvement with the Strongsville Women's League. As a member for over a decade and serving as President from 1992 to 1993, she worked tirelessly to foster a spirit of cooperation and philanthropy within the organization. Her leadership was characterized by a gentle yet firm hand, guiding the League through numerous successful initiatives and community projects.
A resident of Strongsville for many years, Dolores's presence was felt throughout the town. Her passion for helping others extended beyond the Women's League, touching the lives of countless individuals. Dolores's warm smile, generous spirit, sense of humor, and readiness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate the life of Dolores on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at Jardine Funeral Home, located at 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44136. Friends, family, and community members are invited to join in remembrance from 12pm to 2pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2pm at the funeral home. Dolores will be laid to rest at Strongsville Cemetery, where she will be interred among the town and people she so dearly loved.
Memorial contributions can be made to The City Mission, an organization that was close to Dolores's heart. The City Mission is located at 5310 Carnegie Ave., Cleveland, OH 44103. The City Mission continues to embody the spirit of community support and outreach that Dolores championed throughout her life.
