Dick Bedell's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Bedell, age 86, of Strongsville, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025. Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret “Marge” (nee Sattler), and his sister, Marian Deertz. His spirit is carried on through his children, Rick (ex-spouse Deborah), Matthew (Athena), and Beth Ann Bedell, as well as his treasured grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan (Abby), Alex, Andrew, and Christian, all of whom he adored.
While in high school at St. Edward (’56), he worked at a local gas station where his passion for cars began and a lifelong enjoyment of going to car shows. Later in life, he restored a 1951 Ford Crestliner which was his first car as a teenager. If you knew Dick and his cherished Crestliner, you knew that “it’s chartreuse, dammit!” He spent 30+ years as a successful business owner of Quo Vadis Cabinets in Strongsville.
Dick and Marge were avid square dancers and would organize bus trips to the National Square Dance Convention or other destinations. In retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Myrtle Beach with Marge and Beth. He was known to be at the bowling alley supporting his daughter, Beth, with her Friends Forever and Strongsville Special Olympics friends. He found great joy in watching his grandsons participate in various sporting activities. Dick was also active with his 1956 classmates and would meet twice a month to share stories and keep up to date on St. Ed’s.
Dick’s heart was as big as his personality, and he enjoyed trying new restaurants and spending time with his family and friends. Even during retirement, he was busier than ever helping friends, family, and others with special projects.
