Dennis L. Sloan Sr.'s Obituary
Dennis Sloan, Sr., age 83, of Brunswick Hills, passed away on April 11, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1942, in Apollo, PA, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann Sloan for 50 years, and their marriage was a lasting example of love, loyalty, and partnership. Together, they built a strong and caring family that was the center of Dennis’ life. He was a proud father to Dennis Jr. and his wife Tricia, Carrie and her husband Brett Connors, and Jason Paul and his wife Sindy Sloan. He found great joy in being a grandfather to Jessica Hollingsworth, Kyle Connors, Casey Connors, Jason Sloan, Kenny Sloan, Nick Sloan, and Natalie Sloan, and he treasured each of his great-grandchildren, Kerrigan, Raven, Seamus, Benjamin, Lucas, Paisley, Morgan, Ryan, Leo, and Lilly. His family was his greatest blessing, and he loved them deeply and unconditionally. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Harriett Louise Sloan, as well as his siblings, David Sloan and Patricia Sloan.
He worked for many years as a drywall finisher, a trade that reflected his steady hands, strong work ethic, and pride in doing a job well. Even beyond his work, Dennis was always willing to help with projects around his own home and the homes of his children. He had a natural ability to fix, build, and improve, and he never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed it. He was known as a handy man in the truest sense, someone who could be counted on to get the job done with care and skill.
Dennis enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and embraced them fully. He loved golfing, deer hunting, fishing, and camping, and he especially cherished the times he spent sharing those favorite activities with his children. He was an awesome dad who made lasting memories by taking his kids along with him wherever he went. Whether he was on the golf course, by the water, in the woods, or working on a project, he found joy in being surrounded by family. He also loved country music, especially the timeless songs of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, whose music matched his appreciation for honesty, heart, and tradition.
Those who knew Dennis will remember him as generous, loving, and always ready to help. He was a good listener and a very accepting man who welcomed people from all walks of life with kindness and respect. He had a calm and steady presence, and his warmth made others feel comfortable and valued. He was the kind of man who gave freely of his time, his talents, and his heart, and he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Dennis Sloan, Sr. will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, as well as a hardworking and dependable man who lived with integrity and compassion. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly and in the many lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. He was, in every sense, an all-around great guy, and his memory will be cherished always.
Dennis’ family will greet friends on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 11 - 1 PM at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road. Services will begin at the funeral home at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Woodvale Cemetery in Middleburg Heights.
