Deborah Thomas, a cherished educator, loving wife, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 71. Born on July 8, 1952, in Berea, Ohio, to the late Malcolm and Dorothy Fish Sr.
Deborah's early life in Berea was marked by her passion for competitive speed skating, a pursuit that taught her the values of discipline and perseverance. These qualities shone through in every aspect of her life, especially in her dedication to her family and her career. She was the beloved wife of Robert Thomas, with whom she shared countless memories and a life full of love. Together, they raised their son, Christopher (Jen) Mayville, who brought immense joy to Deborah's life. Her siblings, Malcolm (Nora) Fish and Jennifer (Mike) Baker, shared in the close-knit family bond that was a cornerstone of Deborah's life.
Deborah's commitment to education was unwavering. After earning her bachelor’s degree in education, she went on to become a dedicated Special Education teacher in Strongsville. Her work was not just a job; it was a calling. She touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, leaving a legacy of kindness, patience, and unwavering support.
Throughout a courageous six-year battle with lung cancer, Deborah's spirit remained unbroken. She faced each day with grace and fortitude, a testament to her strength and resilience.
