David M. Whitkofski Sr.'s Obituary
David Michael Whitkofski Sr. (82) passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Cleveland, Dave was married to Rita for 49 years until her passing.
A truck driver for 50 years, he was the first person in Ohio certified to drive triple trailers for UPS, and proudly wore his Teamsters jacket and veteran hat.
Dave served as a canine military police officer for the U.S. Army, often humorously noting that he was the only private to tell a major what to do—after all, his dog’s name was Major.
He admired St Therese of Lisieux and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Dave found relaxation on the water, where his love of boating brought him joy.
Behind his gruff exterior was a man who loved deeply, especially his 10 grandchildren: Ashley, Alexander, Hannah, Gregory, Sarah, Corinne, David Michael III, Daphne, Austin and Brandon.
His sharp wit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, including his lifelong friends.
Dave is also survived by his children: Michelle Weber, Kathleen Leestma (Brian), Michael (Laura), David Jr. (Jessica), Joseph (Brooke) and Tommy (Kasandra).
