David F. Nigro Sr.'s Obituary
David F. Nigro Sr, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on March 14, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, David was a man whose life was defined by the love he had for his family, his dedication to his work, and his passion for the simple pleasures in life.
David's journey began as the son of the late Donald and Frances Nigro, growing up alongside his siblings Mary Jo (Paul Landis), Donald, and Karen (Richard) Hardy. His early years in Cleveland laid the foundation for a life full of love, laughter, and the importance of family. David's heart found its match when he met Christine, and together they embarked on a marriage that would flourish for 43 years. Their love was a beacon for their children, Rachael (Matt) Neely, Rosanne (Doug) Paul, David Nigro Jr (Caitlin), and Matthew Nigro, who each found inspiration in their father's unwavering support and guidance.
David's professional life was marked by a long and successful career at General Motors, where he dedicated himself to his work until his retirement. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and commitment, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life.
Outside of work, David was a man of many interests, all of which revolved around the joy of being with those he loved. Known to his family as "Luigi" for his uncanny ability to fix anything, he was the go-to person whenever something needed repair. His retirement years were spent enjoying the outdoors, whether it was golfing or taking bike rides in the Metroparks with Christine. David's love for skiing, watching soccer, and taking trips to the Outer Banks were well-known, but it was his role as a grandfather that brought him the most joy.
David's nine grandchildren, Ryan and Madison Neely, Dempsey, Luca, Raia, Xavier, and Ellie Paul, and Roman and Theo Nigro, will remember him as the world's best chauffeur, always there to support and celebrate their achievements. His presence at their sporting events, school functions, and family gatherings was a constant source of love and pride.
Throughout his life, David's priority was his family. He worked tirelessly to provide an amazing legacy, one that his children and grandchildren will carry forward. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and it is this love that will continue to resonate long after his passing.
David's life, though too short, was filled with moments of happiness, challenges overcome, and dreams fulfilled. He faced his final days with the same courage and dignity that characterized his entire life. While he suffered too long, his spirit, his teachings, and his love will always live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and in the faces of his four children and nine grandchildren.
