David F. Hostelley's Obituary
David F. Hostelley, 84, passed away May 18, 2023. Beloved husband of 62 years to Margaret Hostelley (Medvik). Loving father of Greg (Janet), Jeff (Heidi), Kevin (Cheryl) and Kim (Thomas Uthup). Son of the late Rita (nee Herringer) and Howard A. Hostelley. Brother of Susan Peters (the late James) and Ronald Hostelley. Dear grandfather of Stephen (Julia), Laura Hostelley Diamond (Alec), Nathan (Lexy), Taylor, Morgan, Jack and Grace. Great grandfather of Emerson.
Dave graduated from John Marshall High School and Fenn College. He earned his CPA certificate in 1965, and began a career in the Health Care industry, starting a CPA firm in 1970 to serve that line of business. He earned his Ph. D. in Project Management in 1983 and was a global lecturer in that field, as well as an adjunct professor at Baldwin-Wallace and other local universities. As he completed his career he served as a financial consultant for a variety of private and public companies.
His father instilled in him a desire to serve those in need; he served the minority communities of Cleveland, including the Minority Economic Development Council. Anyone who ever needed a favor could count on him to try to help out.
Most of all he was a devoted family man and Catholic. His grandchildren could count on the regular text message from him asking about their lives as they moved about the country. For years he was a lector at St. John Bosco Church and the drummer in the choir at St. Joseph Church. Always rooting for the underdog, he was a lifelong fan of Cleveland baseball. His ever-present good cheer and never-give-up attitude will be missed.
