David Friedrich's Obituary
David Friedrich passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at age 45, devoted father and husband, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cardiovascular perfusionist died of ALS. A native of North Royalton, OH, he attended Baldwin Wallace College, and later completed graduate work at The Ohio State University. David was a renaissance man, who touched many lives. He will be remembered most for his vibrant personality, his ability to live life to the fullest and his service to others. David lit up the room when he entered and was always looking for his next adventure. He was an avid Buckeye who enjoyed attending Cavs games and the Indians at Jacobs Field. He was a craft beer enthusiast, a sushi craver, and a Maroon 5 fan. He was a fierce athlete who successfully completed five Ironman competitions while his family and friends eagerly cheered him on every step of the way. His athleticism was certainly passed on to Estelle and Maxwell whom he loved seeing compete. He especially enjoyed seeing Maxwell run cross country and Estelle swim. David also enjoyed travelling the world. From Paris to Abu Dhabi, to Amsterdam to Chile to the Dominican Republic – he appreciated taking in new cultures and experiences and sharing them with others. David and Rochelle lost their youngest daughter, Eleonore, in 2009 and were inspired to establish The Eleonore Rocks Foundation. The mission of Eleonore Rocks is to make a positive impact on the lives of sick children and their families by donating rocking chairs to birthing units and hospital rooms in the NICU. They have raised over $450,000 to date and positively impacted the lives of thousands of families. David is survived by his wife, Rochelle (Martin); children, Estelle and Maxwell; parents, Bonnie and Roger Friedrich and Robert and Rita Martin; and sister, Lisa Sabula. Visitation will be Sunday 2-6 pm at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH. Funeral mass will be Monday 10 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 12580 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, OH. In memory of David and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support Estelle and Maxwell’s education at “Dine for Dave” in c/o Chase Bank 14357 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, OH 44136 (checks only).
