David Charles Fitz's Obituary
David Charles Fitz, born April 29, 1940 in Duquene, PA to the late Willis and Marian Fitz, passed away on July 26 in his sleep.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (nee Allen) of 56 years as of July 18; his daughter, Suzanne Ortiz (Eric); and grandson, Dominik (13), who plays the trumpet just like his grandpa.
Dave got his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Youngstown State University. He was an accountant for 65 years working at Warner and Swasey until they closed, then he opened his own accounting practice until 2023. He also volunteered his accounting services for the Strongsville Food Bank and his HOA. Dave loved doing accounting work for his clients and for several small companies.
Dave was highly intelligent, loved to read, do his word jumbles, and loved his Cleveland sports teams - the Browns (not the Steelers), the Guardians (though he wished they were still the Indians), and the Cavs, but most of all he loved his family. He was a protector and did everything he could for them, even though he couldn't physically do things due to his handicaps. Dave was the type of person anyone would be grateful to have in their lives (we were). He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him, especially Mary Ann and Suzanne. We love you Dave/Dad.
Dave's family will greet friends on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 3 - 7 PM at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville. A private burial will take place at North Royalton Cemetery.
