Daniel M. Urban's Obituary
Daniel M. Urban, age 78, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. During his last days, he was surrounded by his family, who had the cherished opportunity to share love and laughter and to say goodbye. Son of the late Paul and Veronica (nee Zajac) Urban. Beloved husband of 56 years to Lilli (nee Pulwer) Urban. Survived by his brother Paul (Diana) Urban. Amazing father to sons Danny (Kristine) and Mike (Christina). Proud grandfather to Carli, Michael, Winnie, Bea, and Beau.
Dan honorably served in Vietnam earning the Army Commendation Medal. Throughout his life, he remained a proud veteran and befits his eternal resting place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
Dan worked 30 years at the General Motors Parma Stamping Plant. During his career, he played shortstop for the UAW Local 1005 softball team and served as the Recreation Chairman. He lived longer in retirement than the years he worked, which if you knew him, was the goal.
Dan loved playing and watching sports and he passed that love to his sons. An avid golfer and bowler, there were countless days of joy with him on the course and at the lanes. The times spent at Skyland Golf Course, Bradnan’s Lanes, and on the annual Santee, South Carolina golf trip will never be forgotten.
While he loved playing sports, he preferred watching his sons and grandchildren play them. Hardly a game went by when you could look up in the stands or down one of the foul lines and not see him cheering them on. He was proud of all they accomplished, but, more than that, he was just proud of them.
Although he is gone and will be dearly missed, his presence will always be felt while strolling the fairways, sitting in the stands watching the game, or just simply enjoying family time in the years to come.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on November 1, 2025 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the Brew Garden, 16555 South Park Center, Strongsville, Ohio.
Given his service to the country and love of golf and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Folds of Honor at https://www.foldsofhonor.org.
