Charles Jerry Maurer Jr's Obituary
Charles Jerry Maurer, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully at Western Reserve Hospice, Medina, on February 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Roseann, his wife for 67 wonderful years. Charles was born March 1, 1926, in Cleveland to Charles, Sr. and Helen (deceased). He leaves behind three sons and their wives, Gary (Jane), Dennis (Janet), and Charles (Christine). Charles was a beloved grandfather to the six grandsons bearing his name, Erik (Juliann), David, Matthew (Vickie), Dennis (Jenny), Chuck (Brittany) and Anthony (Kathleen), and also a devoted great grandfather to Jackson, Emerson, Spencer, Cameron, Aiden and Noah. Surviving is his wonderful sister, Geraldine Rinicella (John).
Charles was a proud WWII Navy veteran, serving his time as a radioman, third class on the U.S.S. Currituck. He worked for most of his life as a tinner, and was a member of Sheet Metals Worker Local Union No. 33.
Charles was loved by all who came to know him. He was kind, caring, compassionate, generous, and displayed a great sense of humor. He was especially proud of his six grandsons, all who admired and revered him, and they will always remember his love, devotion and words of encouragement. He greeted everyone with a smile and kind word, even strangers. His humanity is perfectly illustrated by his last words of “thank you”. He was truly a friend to all he encountered in life.
Charles and Roseann spent their final years at Pearl Crossing in Strongsville where they continued to explore life and create many new friends together.
The Maurer family is eternally grateful for the compassionate and loving care he received at Western Reserve Hospice in Medina. Family services will be held on a future date at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HMC Hospice of Medina County.
