Carla Jean DeLuca's Obituary
Carla Jean (Schraegle) DeLuca was born on August 27, 1939 to Carl and Julia Schraegle. Raised as a farm girl in North Royalton, OH, Carla grew up candling 1,000 chicken eggs before school every day. She graduated among the top of her class from North Royalton High School, where she was known for her beauty, intellect, and acting abilities. Soon after graduation, she caught the eye of a handsome young Marine Reservist, Donald DeLuca, who she would go on to marry and spend 61 years with in wedded bliss. Together, Don and Carla welcomed a son, Ryan, and daughter, Tracy, and raised them in Strongsville, Ohio.
Throughout her adult years Carla gave generously of her time. A dedicated stay-at-home-mother, she also volunteered for local hospitals as a candy striper and flower arranger, and was active in politics on the local and State level. In her later years, she found her way back to the stage, performing in the Southwest Community Choir and senior variety show, “Putting On The Glitz.”
Carla is survived by her dedicated husband, Don and her daughter, Tracy, as well as two grandsons, Patrick and Ryan Davison and many other beloved family members. She is predeceased by her parents, son, Ryan, and brother Donald Schraegle (wife Sharon Pavlik Schraegle).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 3-7pm at Jardine’s funeral home in Strongsville, OH. A memorial service will be held at Strongsville United Methodist Church at 11am on Friday, September 6th, with a light lunch served afterwards.
Flowers and donations may be made in Carla’s memory to Strongsville United Methodist Church.
