Bernice M. Hulka, aged 79, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 11, 1944, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Bernice's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for gardening, and her love for the simple pleasures of life.
Bernice was the cherished wife of Arthur Hulka, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage, having tied the knot on February 8, 1975. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She was a devoted mother to her children, Laura (Saul) Meza and David (Jane) Hulka, who will forever hold dear the lessons of kindness and resilience she instilled in them. Bernice's love extended to her grandchildren, Coral, Rugby, Carson, Kayley, and Colin, who were the light of her life and her constant source of joy. A sister to Anita (Dale - surviving) Froning, Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved sibling.
Bernice's interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She found solace in the beauty of her flower gardens and took pride in caring for her house plants. Her visits to Amish Country were cherished escapes that allowed her to appreciate the simplicity and craftsmanship of the lifestyle. An avid reader, Bernice enjoyed many types of novels, each book a new journey and an opportunity for learning. Known among her friends and family for her exceptional nut roll, Bernice's cooking brought people together, creating moments of fellowship and celebration. Her skills in quilting and sewing were not only a hobby but a way of leaving a tangible piece of her love and creativity for others to cherish.
Services will be private for the family. No flowers please, donations can be made to the Southwest Hospice Fund.
