Andrzej Mirecki's Obituary
ANDRZEJ MIRECKI (1932-2025), age 92, of Columbia Station, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025. He is survived by his lovely wife, Wieslawa Mirecki (Kowalska); his loving son, Julius (Laura) Mirecki; his two much beloved granddaughters Jessica (Eric) Brickner and Amy Mirecki. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth.
Andrzej was a seasoned actor. He graduated with a Master of Arts degree from Akademia Teatralna, Warsaw. An actor at Teatr Komedia, Warsaw, he appeared in many productions. In the seventies, he toured and performed in Canada and the US. He also was in a few Polish movies. He was the lead role as Tadeusz Kosciuszko in “Tadeusza Minca”(1971). He also appeared in “Koncert”(1974), “Bialy Mazur” (1978), and “Zycie na goraco”(1978). His most notable performances were in the movie “Sekret Enigmy” (1979) where he played both Charlie Chaplin and the German Chancellor. He was an active member of The Alliance of Poles, a fraternal Polish organization in Cleveland from 1983-2005. He had a passion for Polonia. He brought people together to perform in theater productions he directed about Polish historical events and culture in the Alliance’s beautiful ballroom. He was the editor of the organization’s newspaper, The Alliancer and wrote many articles. Among his awards, Andrzej received the Gold Cross award, the highest civilian award in Poland and the Warsaw Syren Award for his cultural achievement.
His wife, Wieslawa was his greatest fan. They spent countless hours together gardening, bicycling, and supporting their granddaughters in their endeavors. They loved to drive to Florida to vacation and walk on the beaches together, and they enjoyed visiting family and friends in Poland.
VISITATION will be FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2025 from 4PM-7PM at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, March 8, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 3469 E. 65th St. Cleveland, OH. Interment will be held immediately after the mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City, OH.
