Albert M. Mikes' Obituary
Albert M. “Bert” Mikes, age 79, passed away peacefully after a long and hard-fought period of illness. Bert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be missed every day by those who knew him.
Bert shared 35 years of marriage with Colleen Mikes. Their life together was built on partnership, loyalty, humor, and deep mutual respect. In the final chapter of Bert’s life, Colleen’s steady presence and strength meant everything to him and to the family around them.
He was a proud father to Beth Mikes, Albert (Amy) Mikes, Jeff Mikes, Emily (Sam Turben) Mikes, and Heather Lesko. Over time, life brought together a blended family that included Bert’s children and their spouses, ultimately bringing all five siblings and their families together with Colleen in a way that reflected Bert’s humility, steadiness, and care for those around him. Bert is also survived by his siblings Susan (Dave) Wilks, Cheryl (Bill) Gorey, and Tim (Cindy) Majkrzak, and was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Suzanne Majkrzak. He was a grandfather to Jared Pisarcik, Connor Mikes, Hayden Mikes, Andrew Mikes, and Julia Mikes, all of whom he adored and never hesitated to brag about.
Bert enjoyed the simple things in life and leaned into them fully. A good cigar, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, listening to sports radio, and time with family were among his favorites. He had a sharp wit, a curious mind, and a dry sense of humor that surfaced naturally in conversation.
Above all else, Bert was proud of his children, his grandchildren, and the lives they were building. He paid attention, asked thoughtful questions, and genuinely cared about what mattered to them, showing his love through encouragement, presence, and quiet support.
Over 79 years, Bert witnessed extraordinary change in the world, yet remained grounded in what mattered most to him — his wife, his family, and the people he loved. He leaves behind a family bound together by shared memories and deep gratitude for the time they shared with him.
