Mrs. Lewis was my fourth grade teacher and always had a special place in my heart. Soft spoken but yet we knew acting up would not tolerated. I always felt how much she truly cared about us so why misbehave and risk disappointing someone who loved us. We performed many small plays in her class and I still have a picture of me dressed as Santa Claus. Silly little plays looking back, but so special at the time and I still talk about them. I had wonderful teachers growing up who all remembered me into adulthood and she was one of them. I have been a teacher for almost 20 years now in Columbia and I hope I give my students the respect and compassion the way she did so they remember me like I do her. Instead of calling her Mary Alice as I became an adult, she was always Mrs. Lewis, a wonderful teacher and influence and I will miss her dearly.
