Susan S. Michaud

August 23, 1947 - May 21, 2022

Susan S. Michaud (nee Sailer) age 74, passed away May 21, 2022. Loving wife of 39 years to Leonard J. Michaud. Mother of Jennifer Michaud Maddocks and Meagan Michaud Khandekar. Daughter of Bernice Harrigan Sailer and the late Charles Sailer. Sister of Joan Sailer Thwaite and the late Chuck Sailer. Beloved grandmother of Grace Maddocks, Sophia Maddocks, Owen Maddocks, Mia Khandekar, and Layla Khandekar. Susan graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1965, after which she enrolled at the Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing. Following her time at Trumbull, Susan joined the Army, and served as an officer in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. She was stationed at the 312th Evacuation Hospital at Chu Lai. After her service, Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing, graduating magna cum laude from Memphis State University in 1978. Her love for nursing grew out of her desire to ensure everyone around her felt worthy of care and compassion. Susan was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Berea, Ohio. Her favorite things, besides spending time with her family, were her best friends, her animals, puzzles, crafting, TJ Maxx, caffeine-free Diet Coke, and big black purses. Her proudest life accomplishments were her family and her service. She spent her time on Earth working to ensure that those around her, especially her family, were loved. As a nurse, she had a special place in her heart for both children and older folks. The people around her admired her for her bravery, humor, faith, and poise in the toughest of situations.
