Nirmala (“Nim”) Rangel (nee Fernandes), 69, passed away July 29, 2022 after a nearly three year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Nim was born on February 6, 1953 in Poona, India, to the late Dr. Victor and Olinda Fernandes. Read Obituary
I am often fortunate to meet some extraordinary people at Taussig. Nim was both extraordinary and unforgettable. The extent to which she valued and celebrated her life and life in general was a cornerstone of her beautiful personality. My condolences to her family, especially Vincent, whose love for Nim illuminated every room they were in together. Thank you for a lesson on living, Nim that I will always treasure with your memory. Our beloved Nim passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2022 at 9:56 pm.
I was fortunate to have a ringside seat in Nim’s life, or as I would like to call her, Nimmu’s life. I know I have been and I am the better for it.
She did not live an amazing life as we would generally know one, but to each and every one of us who knew her she was this kind, loving and an amazing person. She so generously shared her talents and her life’s skills in her own beautiful way, for which we cannot be more grateful.
Adieu my beautiful Nimmu, my friend and my love.

Dear Vincent,
Marguerita and I were very sad to learn of the passing away of dear Nim. We have had her in our daily prayers and she has been a great support to Marguerita when she was diagnosed with colon cancer in August 2020. She provided that long distance support and shared her own experiences for Marguerita's benefit.
We often think of May 1982 when we were a newly married couple and Nim drove down from Pune(Poona) to Mumbai(Bombay) with us in a cab with her wedding dress on the carrier of the cab. We were fortunate to be able to attend your wedding and danced our feet off at the reception at the Catholic Gym.
