I have been reading the stories that have been posted about Sean and in the 13 years I'd known him, I hadn't heard even half of these. Sean was a truly amazing and caring person who was most definitively taken to soon. My condolences to Cathy, Joe, Conor, and Courtney.

I never knew Sean, but I read and heard incredible things about your young son, brother, Godson, neighbor, and friend. Words can not describe your loss. We will never know but perhaps his short life was meant to just that incredibly significant and too short. God bless you all.

There are no words to describe the loss of such a wonderful friend and labmate. Sean put his heart and soul into everything he did. He was passionately curious about everything and inspired the same in everyone around him. He was exceptionally smart, extremely humble, and an extraordinarily loyal, caring, and thoughtful friend. Sean had the most infectious smile when fondly discussing the best flavors of the soft serve ice cream in Kenyon’s servery, why coconut oil is supreme for cooking, the best way to design a multi-screen computer workstation, and even brainstorming how to effortlessly analyze complex research data to find the best answer. Sean had the most amazing eye for the natural beauty of the world around him as evidenced in his photography of the blooming spring flowers on Kenyon’s campus and the golden fields and fountains he would bike past each day, as well as his love and practice of classical music. He brought out the best in everyone around him as he would drop everything to help anyone with anything and remember the minute details of every text and conversation because he truly was the most caring friend and wanted to be there to support you. He would always stop by the lab to help with anything he could (of course while sneakily hiding his flip-flops, or alas on rare occasions his crocs (!) under his lab bench). You could count on him to send a thoughtful message at the most crucial times and he always was sending along articles and fun links that he knew would be of interest— Sean was always thinking of others. He was truly one-of-a-kind and loved by so many. I will miss him dearly.
Sean set up the computer servers for our lab at Kenyon, and he continued to help us even after he graduated. Keeping the family in prayer.
I didn't get to know Sean as an adult as well as I knew Sean as a kid because we were so far apart in age. I'll always think of Sean as a little kid swimming all the time without a care in the world. I wish I'd spent more time with the Sean he grew into because it sounds like he became a heck of a guy.
