Dearest Maria was an inspiration to me from the first time I met her and Joe over 20 yrs ago. She certainly was a survivor from all that she and her family has gone through.
She & Joe attended was a daily mass attendant at St. John Neumann Church where I was pastoral associate (1992-2019). After Joe's death, Maria would drive herself to church no matter the weather until she could no longer do so. I had the privilege of visiting her at Vitalia Senior Ctr. I was always impressed how beautifully she looked and kept herself! I gave her a little stuffed animal she named "Patti" after me, and it delighted my heart that she kept it on her bed and referred to it as her friend. Sometimes when I came, she would be playing Bingo. She missed Joe so very much, and now is finally united with him, both now in the arms of her loving Father.
How blessed I am to have known her. My deepest sympathy and prayers to the family who cared so much for her! She was a blessing to all who knew her!
